Ways I Save Money Beauty Shopping

Ways I Save Money Beauty Shopping

Being a beauty blogger (and just a beauty addict in general), it can be really easy to drop a lot of cash on the latest makeup trends and “must have” products. Since one of my goals for this year is to save money to travel, I have to make conscious effort to strictly reduce my shopping habits. It is not an easy task, those who know me know that I really LOVE to shop, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do to save money. I have developed some tips and tricks that help me develop my already extensive makeup collection without breaking the bank, and today I want to share the ways I save money beauty shopping with you guys!

1. Make wish lists: If you’ve been following OsbieBeauty for a while now, you may have seen some of my beauty wish lists (if not they’re right here: Autumn, Spring, Birthday)I love doing those list.

Whenever I really want a beauty product I add it to my wish list. I either write it down on a pice of paper or add the item to my Wish List board on Pinterest. It is a great way to see everything clearly and prioritize which items I want to get first and which I don’t actually need. I often cross out product (or removed it from my board) when I realize I have a few similar ones or I don’t actually need it.

2. Read reviews: Many products seem really appealing in the store or In publicity but it doesn’t mean they will actually work for everybody so you might just end up using a product once and throwing it out. I almost always read reviews from bloggers I really trust (or watch reviews on YouTube) before I decide to splurge.

3. Ask for samples: where I’m from people don’t usually ask for samples (probably because of the way staff look at us when we do). However you always have the right to ask for a sample (one not a million) and if you are in a good costumer friendly shop (like Sephora) they will give you one. Let’s be honest, we all have better things to do than to spend our money on products that we will hate and end up throwing away.

4. Find loyalty programs best for you: Most stores have loyalty programs, some better and some less interesting. They are usually made to make you buy more, but sometimes you can get really great deals like discounts or freebies for collected points. Often when you join this kind of program you are automatically signed up for a newsletter, which are also a great way to stay up-to-date with offers and deals.

5 . Don’t be afraid of saying “No!” even to yourself : How many times you bought a product that you didn’t like that much just because a sales assistant talked you into buying it? I did so many times, regretting afterwards and wasting a lot of money, until I learned to say “no”. If you are not sure if you want to buy an item – don’t be afraid to say you need to think it through – no one will judge you or be angry with you and even if they would, that’s just unprofessional on their side so not your problem at all.

On the other hand learning to restrain yourself is a good thing too. Not so long ago I was the king of girl who could buy 10 lipsticks(36$ each) on one trip to my local Sephora…until one of my good friend help me realized that it was a bit crazy to do that…and she was right I mean who in their right mind does that? Unless you are Ivanka Trump, your bank account does most likely have a limit. So when you go somewhere to buy makeup (or anything else), fixe yourself a limit accordingly to your budget.

Those were my 5 quick tips on how to save money while beauty shopping. Do you have any other tips you’d like to share write them in the comment section down below!

Good tips. I try to reason with myself before buying too much new make up. It is difficult though as a blogger, you want/need to be writting about what’s new without breaking the bank.

Thank you Shannon! I know being a beauty blogger can be expensive sometimes…If you want to, you can send your media kit to brands that you would like to work with, that’s one of the ways you can get free products to review (and you don’t need to have a gazillions tones of followers to do so). Also search the Internet for coupons and special discount.

Another cool thing that I like when it comes to saving money on makeup is that some brands (like Charlotte Tilbury for exemple) have special program for Makeup Artists that gives you a certain discount when you buy their products.

Great tips! I have a bad habit of being drawn to the same type of products over and over again, without realizing I already have similar stuff in my collection.

Thanks! I totally understand what you mean I had this bad habbit of always buying the same kind of lipstick, until I realize that I owned something like 15 red lipsticks…
