The perfect summer time lipsticks

The perfect summer time lipsticks
It’s finally starting to feel like summer around here and you know what that means, it’s time to break out the summer time lipsticks of course! Now typically I don’t worry about the season, I’ll wear a dark berry lip any time of the year, but there are a few lipsticks that just scream summertime to me. Also I’ve made sure to pick out a couple that will stay put all day long while you’re relaxing at the beach or exploring a new city!
I am beyond obsessed with Colourpop’s new Matte X formula, if you haven’t tried it yet you’re definitely missing out! It’s super comfortable on the lips, long lasting and has the most gorgeous matte finish. Not to mention the fact that it’s only $5! There’s so many amazing shades in the range, but there’s one in particular I can’t wait to wear this summer: Boa, a pastel pinky lilac. It’s just so fun and I honestly don’t have anything like it in my collection. While this formula isn’t transfer proof, it does stay on quite well and will last most of the day.
I used to think I couldn’t pull off bright pinks, but I’ve fallen completely in love with them lately. Too Faced’s Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick in It’s Happening is the perfect pink to wear on your holiday. The formula is a little more matte than Colourpop’s Matte X and it is transfer proof for the most part. This lipstick lasted all day, fading only slightly after dinner and it was even a little hard to remove at the end of the night. (I’ve found the best lipstick remover is The Body Shop’s Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup Remover, it’s especially great at removing liquid lipstick!)

If you’re looking for lip colors that are a little more natural one gorgeous choice is Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini. I love everything about this lipstick. From the color, to the scent (it smells like root beer!), to the longevity and the comfort. It lasted all day long and if I needed to reapply (which I didn’t) I wouldn’t have any issues with flaking.
Another similar shade is Beauty Bakerie’s Lip Whip in Versailles. This thing did not budge, at all. Even after eating when I normally have a little bit of lipstick on my napkin, this stayed exactly where it belonged. I did notice there was a small amount of separating happening near the end of the day, but overall if you’re looking for something that needs to last while you’re at the beach all day this is a great option!
A pink that’s a little brighter, but still quite natural is Smashbox’s Always On Liquid Lipstick in Babe Alert. These newly released liquid lipsticks are fantastic! They super long wearing, comfortable and transfer proof for the most part. I wore this to a wedding recently and it wasn’t until 12 hours later that it started to wear off. They’re a little pricey for the size, but definitely worth it in my opinion!
Lastly is a timeless red. The NYX Full Throttle lipsticks are amazing, the longevity is simply fantastic and the shade Firestorm is the perfect red! They’re similar to CP’s Matte X as they’re not a totally transfer proof matte and if you’re eating oily food it obviously won’t hold up, but with pretty much anything else these will stay put. They’re super comfortable and I almost forget I’m wearing them after a while. The only thing I dislike about these is the shape, it doesn’t help for precise application, but it’s definitely something I’m willing to look past! I highly suggest checking these out if you’re looking for a long lasting bold lipstick this summer!
