When we’re wearing makeup we want it to stay put, and look good all day. If you’re like me the last thing you want, is for your makeup to be creasing or sliding off your face come midday. That is why I always make sure to some extra steps to ensure my makeup lasts all day, and stays where I want it to be. Today I’m sharing with you some of my tips and tricks on how to make your make up last all day .
Before applying my makeup, I like to give it a boost of moisture. Hydrated skin creates a smooth canvas for the makeup to be applied on, resulting in longer staying power and better colour payoff. On regular days, I use the Origins GinZingEnergy-boosting moisturizer to give my face a fresh burst of hydration, and all the vitamin my skin deserves.
During my makeup application, I always make sure to prep my skin before certain steps. Makeup primers are ideal for this, because they fill in any fine lines and give your makeup something to adhere to.
For the eyes, I use the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion which keeps my cream shadows from creasing and ensures my shadows look vibrant. I’ve also been using this primer for my under eye concealer it works amazingly well at prepping my under eye for colour correcting .
For my face, Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer is my current primer of choice – it helps blur out any pores and fine lines while giving my foundation something to really stick to.
For my lips, are used Charlotte Tilbury lip balm it helps my lips to hydrated throughout the day, and helps my lipstick just a bit and last longer.
Once I’ve applied my concealer and foundation, I’ll set it all with a light powder. I used the Laura Mercier setting powder. It is a bit expensive but a little goes a long way, plus this setting powder match my skin tones and undertones perfectly. I couldn’t be happier with how well it sets my makeup and makes everything look flawless.
When all of my makeup is applied, my final step to ensure that everything stays put all day is to spray my face with a makeup setting spray. A setting spray works almost like hairspray for hair or a top coat for nails – it’s that final step that helps keep it all together and long lasting. The one I’m currently using is Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray, which works wonders at keeping everything set in place. A few spritzes of this stuff and I can rest easy knowing my face will look fresh and oil free until I’m ready to take it all off at night.
