Like I have mentioned in my previous Lime Crime review I have discover this company trough Instagram. I am absolutely obsessed with their feed! Every picture they post is a pure blast of creativity a real joy for the eyes! I have been wanting to try their matte liquid lipsticks for ages and last January I bought my first Velvetine ever, and this was the start of a dangerous-for-my-wallet love affair!
I’m definitely a person who loves detail and pays attention to design. Packing wise Lime Crime is definitely one of my favourite brand. Everything that comes from this company from the cardboard shipping box to the paper wrap to the actual product container is beyond gorgeous.
Size wise the Velvetines are maybe 1/3 smaller than Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick, but don’t let that fool you! The formula is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, it is so creamy/velvety. A little goes a long way you only need one swipe to get the opacity you want. However I would recommend to be careful while applying it because it feels so lightweight almost like water it can be easy to go overboard with those little babies.
The colour range lime Crime offer is very inspiring. The pigmentation is intense and it does look almost painted on which I absolutely loved.I’m not sure it resembles velvet but the finish is flawless and it makes your lips definitely stand out for all the right reasons. The Velvetines dry very quickly, they are long-lasting you barely have to reapply throughout the day, and they have such a sweet scent to them.
From left to right: Polly (pink mauve), Faded (light mauve), Buffy (buff nude), Cupid (soft petal pink), True love (vibrant pinky red), Bee it (deep berry-pink), Saint (deep cranberry red), Rave (electric lavender), Peacock (blue-green).
Overall I love the formula and I may prefer the Velvetines to Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick (sorry KVD). The only thing I would recommend is to make sure you lips are well hydrated before and after using (any) liquid lipstick as they tend to be a bit drying.
Do you own some of these? What is your favourite shade? Let me know if you have ever tried (or wish to try) any of Lime Crime products in the comment section! If you like the Velvetines you might like the Unicorn Lipstick too click here for my full review on those bad boys!
