Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette Review

Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette Review

I’ve been putting this Shade and Light contours palette, and its companion brush , from my beloved Kat Von D to the test, over the past 4 months. Here are my thoughts!

Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette Review

First off, this palette is exclusive to Sephora, IT IS A GORGEOUS PALETTE, you get 3 contouring shades (light, medium, and dark), and you also get 3 companions highlight shades (more of a pink tone, yellow tone, and peach tone). There is something for everyone in here!

Also I think it’s fantastic that they’ve brought a contour kit to mass market (and so many companies are finally getting it)… You don’t want to carve out sculpt the face with a shimmery, warm tone bronzer… So that’s a huge win for this palette.

Obviously you won’t use every single colour to contour and highlight your face, your going to go whit the shades that suites your skin tone, and under tone the best, but what’s great is that these actually makes excellent eye shadows as well, so don’t count that out

An other things that can come in handy if you’re new to the world of contouring, is that the palette comes with an illustrations sheet that dose guide you through contouring, so you’re not complete going in the dark. The illustrations are really beautiful and were done by Kat Von D herself, and it does guide you through how to use the palette to its best.

You do get a lot of product, in this palette, and the colour are really really pigmented, so a little goes a long way.
The packaging is a bit bulky, I don’t mind it, you get a nice mirror in the lid, the packaging itself is very high quality, but it is definitely not a travel size. If you’re the type of girl that does her makeup on the go, this might not be the pallet for you. This is more of a palette that you would keep on hand, at home for everyday use.

I think it’s a fare price (55$) for the amount of product you get, and you get such a variety of shade that I think it is worth it…

From left to right: subconscious, shadowplay, sombre, lucid, lyric, levitation

And again, use these as eyeshadow, do not limit yourself, powder for the most part is powder and you can put it wherever you want.

The colour are very smooth, and blend very well, and are true mate sculpting powders, there is no shine in here what so ever, and it’s really what you want, if you want to achieve that professional sculpted, but natural look to your skin.

Let’s talk about the brush , this is expensive (43$), but I’ve been using this every day regardless if I’m using the Shade & Light Kit, or Anastasia Beverly, or NARS, or whatever. I really have been reaching for this brush a lot…you do get a double ended brush, it does tell you which one is light, which one is shade

This is the perfect shape right here to really carve out your cheekbones, to sculpt out the chin…

And than you have this very fluffy dome shape brush that is excellent for getting on the cheekbones, and it does distribute the powder evenly.

So I do like it , I just think it it’s a tad bit expensive, that’s my only “negative” thing to say about it

I love these products I give them a big round of applauses!
If you’ve tried it let me know what are your thoughts on it!
Hope you’ve enjoyed my review,

Love, Helene Xxx

I’ve been eyeing this product for as long as I can remember! It’s gorgeous. Also, thank you for giving your thoughts about it after trying and testing it for a good while. I’ve grown tired of first impression reviews because they end up being unreliable since people change their minds. Lovely post! 🙂
