How to get noticed online

How to get noticed online

I’ve been working on OsbieBeauty for a year now, and when I first started I didn’t know a thing about blogging, I just knew that I had a vision and that I was willing to do pretty much anything to make it happen. I was (and still am) eager to learn every single little thing there’s to know about blogging, that’s why you’ll often find on webinars, or taking class and reading books about blogging. I’m the kind of girl who puts heart and soul into her work. At the beginning of the blog I was writing posts which I thought at the time were thebomb.com, but I was getting barely no views at all which was quite frustrating I must say. So I started searching the web for the magic formula that would teache me how to get noticed online.

I’ve tried all sorts of “techniques” to get my blog seen. I’ve spent countless hours networking and promoting via social media, which can be exhausting and pretty bad for your social life on the long run. I had so many sleepless night researching articles about SEO and blogging,  it even came to a point where I was kinda harassing people telling them to go on my blog, which is a big no no btw. I’ve learned a lot through all of the trials and errors, and today I want to share some of my tips and tricks to quickly and organically make your blog get noticed online.

Interact with other blogs. Never underestimate the power of networking. By interacting with other bloggers from blogs you love, not only will you create a relationship with them (some relationships may turns into friendship and that’s pretty awesome in itself) but you will create a relationship with their readers, who might have some similar interests with yours and found your blog helpful.

When you comment on someone else blog ,make interesting, relevant comments. Avoid at any cost those “empty comments” like “Cool!”, “Amazing” “Great Post!”, “Love it” or “Come check out my blog!”. What you want to do is create a spark of curiosity about your blog, and engage conversation. Keep in mind that there’s not a lot to reply possible to a “Cool!”

You can also link someone else blog post in one of your post (make sure that the topic of the two post are relevant to each other though). When you use a link to someone else blog post on your blog, and someone click on it, it appears in the other blogger stats. The blogger might as well come to see what you had to say about them. They may even share your post on their social media.

Respond to every comment someone leaves on your blog. You want the person who is responding to your post to feel welcomed, respected and deserving of attention.Think of how you are feeling when one of your favourite Blogger or Youtuber take 30 seconds of their valuable time to engage with you. Don’t you feel appreciated when it happens? By taking time to reply to your readers, you will develop a relationship with them, get to know them better and it will make them more likely to talk about and share your blog with other people.

Write great headlines. The his is the first contact people will have with your post. You want to have a truly eye-catching title, so they will be more likely to read your post than something that seems dull, or down right boring.

Do you have a good Theme? This might sound a bit silly but if your blog looks like every other blog and people won’t remember it, and if you present your content in a bad way people just won’t read it. It is always more appealing to eat a good pizza in a nice restaurant than to eat a frozen one in your living room. Be creative and innovative you don’t want to recreate something that your readers (and future readers)have seen a thousand time before. The basic WordPress (or Blogger) theme might do for a while but if you are considering doing this on a more professional level, you might want to invest in a customized theme.

Make sure that your blog is well put together, that your images or graphics are relevant to your topic. Make sure your blog is properly functioning. Do blog maintenance, check for any dead links, plugins that bug out, and other problems. At leave once a month.

Use Social Media to your advantage. Don’t be shy and get your voice out there! Go find your readers where they hang, link you blog (or your latest blog post) to Instagram, and Twitter. Use one of your prettiest blog post photos and pin it to Pinterest. The goal here is to get your content out on as many venues as possible, to get as much exposure as you can. You don’t have to spend 12h per day on it trust me! Learn how to plan your blog post and schedule your social media accordingly.
Hope this was helpful, if you have any other ideas on how to get noticed online please share them in the comment section!

Love, Helene Xx

Great tips! It can be daunting for a blogger to be blogging and not see your work go anywhere. Also do you have any tips to boost social media/curate social media.

Thanks! I think what can help when it comes to boosting social media is consistency and talk to people, get your name out there. I know it can be a bit discouraging at first when you don’t really see the results, but you’ll see it pays off

I love social media for getting my blog out there and interacting with people 🙂 It’s great to be able to get a conversation going! I need to get better at responding to comments, though – it always seems to fall at the bottom of my list! Fab post 🙂

Just found your blog through bloglovin’ and can’t believe you have only been blogging for just over a year :-O I’ve been thinking of starting a blog nearly every day for I don’t know how many years! To be honest, it’s the fear of what others will think that is stopping me from doing anything! I started a youtube channel years ago but stopped before I had really even begun :-S I think I’ll have to just face the fear and do it :-)!! Thank you for the encouragement 🙂 xxx
